AICE Media Studies

Through much thought I have decided to create a magazine as my AICE project. I've made this decision based on the fact that I think it would work best for my schedule, so I can give as much attention as possible to it. My group an I are going to create a food magazine. I work in a food truck on the weekends where I have to cook, chop, and serve food. This gives me a little insight to what goes on in the food business world. This also gives me access to my bosses who have 30+ years of experience in the food industry. The two other girls in my group, Taylor and Lacey, both have hobbies in photography and are able to share their expertise with me. Taylor has also worked within the food industry, which gives us some information where we can compare food industry experiences. I believe between the three of us we can create very informational and entertaining issues of our magazine.

     Film production has so many moving parts that go into it, such as writing, casting, production, and editing. One of the aspects that we have learned about the film production process in class that interested me is the casting process. I loved listening to the casting directors, in the documentary about Ferris Bueller's Day Off, about the process they went thorough while choosing the actor/actress to play certain characters. I also loved watching the creative process of John Hughes while filming the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He kept thinking of ideas to add or delete in the movie right on set. One skill that I posses that would make the film project a good fit for me is that over the years I have learned that I'm am able to write a pretty creative script when I'm really into a topic.      In class we have spent some time going through examples of print journalism. Such as, The Washington Post in relation to the Nixon story. Where we learned how Woodward and Bernstein had to pull information out of their interviewees. Some aspects of print journalism that have caught my attention are the way that journalists are able to get the information to the reader in a clear way. They are also able to use the knowledge of others, through interviews, to get the most valid information. I also love that in print media journalists are able to use photos to display exactly what they are expressing through their writing. Print journalism has so many different genres to reach many different groups of people. Some skills that I posses that would be a good fit for print journalism are my ability to ask the best questions while interviewing, my ability to present information in a clear and concise way, and my ability to take entertaining photos to be able to present to the...
